Prof. Kamal Chopra becomes the First Indian to Head the World Print & Communication Forum (WPCF)

One more feather to the crown of Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra as he becomes the first Indian to be appointed as the Chairman of the World Print & Communication Forum (WPCF).

On December 8, 2020 Prof. Chopra took over the reins from the past president, Mr Michael Makin (USA). It is a proud moment for the Indian Printing Industry and the nation as a whole, as for the very first time an Indian will run this International Organisation. Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the WPCF is a collaborative platform for the world’s major transnational and national printing associations to work together, promote the development and prosperity of the global printing industry.

Having chaired All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) India’s highest printing federation twice, Prof Kamal (aged 72) is ready for the new test. “It is a proud moment for me and altogether a new challenge as well,” he said. He further added, “It’s a huge honour that can be bestowed upon an individual. The experience of chairing AIFMP has given me some valuable experience. I hope it will prove to be beneficial for me at WPCF as well.”

The owner of one of the top printing presses Foil Printers in Ludhiana, Kamal Chopra has been a jack of all trades in the printing industry. He is an inspirational figure for everyone not only in the printing industry, but in general as well. He has also served as honorary professor in three international universities and has been a Governor’s nominee in the board of a national university. Prof. Kamal Chopra is also the Chairman of PAMEX Exhibition.

His life has been penned down in biographies, “Life in Print” and another releasing shortly named as “Imprint of a Printer.” These books detail his journey from humble beginnings to rare honours like ‘President of India Award’ and ‘Hon. Professor at world’s leading printing institute in China.’

“The feeling of being the first Indian to reach this level is unmatchable. I hope this will bring more opportunities for Indians in this industry. I will try my best to be a good representative for the nation and work sincerely towards the responsibility assigned to me,” concluded Prof Chopra.
